# MentorAgent > MentorAgent is an open source .NET library (Apache 2.0, on NuGet) built on Microsoft Agent Framework. It turns the C# methods of a .NET application, new or existing, into tools for an AI agent. Each method declares who may call it and whether the user must confirm, and the library enforces those rules on every channel. Only the application needs .NET: the front end can be Blazor, React, Angular, Vue or a mobile app, and other agents and tools reach the same actions over MCP and A2A. This is the documentation of MentorAgent 1.0.0. Every page is also available as Markdown at its URL followed by `.md`; the home page is https://docs.mentoragent.net/index.md. ## Get started - [Get started](https://docs.mentoragent.net/get-started.md): Learn what MentorAgent is and what is new in this version, then build your first agent or add one to an app you already have. - [What is MentorAgent?](https://docs.mentoragent.net/get-started/what-is-mentoragent.md): MentorAgent turns C# methods into tools for an AI agent, and checks on every channel who may call each one and whether the user confirms. - [What's new](https://docs.mentoragent.net/whats-new.md): What changed in the current MentorAgent version, what to do when you upgrade, its known issues and limitations, and how versions are numbered. - [Quickstart](https://docs.mentoragent.net/get-started/quickstart.md): Create a Blazor app, turn a service method into an action with confirmation, connect a model and add the chat widget in about fifteen minutes. - [Tutorial](https://docs.mentoragent.net/get-started/tutorial.md): Extend the Cases app from the Quickstart in four short steps: actions, roles and confirmation, a specialist agent, and a team. The steps take under an hour. - [1 · Turn service methods into actions](https://docs.mentoragent.net/get-started/tutorial/actions.md): Tutorial step 1: expose the methods of a case service as actions the agent can call, with descriptions the model understands. - [2 · Require roles and confirmation](https://docs.mentoragent.net/get-started/tutorial/roles-and-confirmation.md): Tutorial step 2: restrict actions to roles and ask the user to confirm before the agent changes data, then try both cases. - [3 · Hand off to a specialist agent](https://docs.mentoragent.net/get-started/tutorial/specialist-agent.md): Tutorial step 3: add a specialist agent that owns case questions, and let the coordinator hand requests over to it. - [4 · Put agents in a team](https://docs.mentoragent.net/get-started/tutorial/team.md): Tutorial step 4: let two agents review a case in a group chat before anything changes, while roles and confirmation still apply. - [Add MentorAgent to an existing app](https://docs.mentoragent.net/get-started/existing-app.md): Add MentorAgent to a Blazor Web App you already have: install the package, register the services, mark your methods and place the widget. - [Prerequisites](https://docs.mentoragent.net/get-started/prerequisites.md): The .NET version, hosts, Agent Framework and provider package versions MentorAgent is tested with, and how to install it. - [Choose your packages](https://docs.mentoragent.net/get-started/packages.md): Which MentorAgent package to install for Blazor, MAUI, or a backend for React, Angular, Vue and mobile apps, and what each one contains. - [Samples](https://docs.mentoragent.net/samples.md): Complete MentorAgent projects you can download and run, starting with the quickstart app, and the channel and packages each one uses. - [Troubleshooting](https://docs.mentoragent.net/get-started/troubleshooting.md): Find the fix for a common problem when you install, build or run MentorAgent: startup errors, blocked requests, roles, confirmation and local models. ## Concepts - [Concepts](https://docs.mentoragent.net/concepts.md): Learn the three agent levels (actions, specialists and teams), how roles and confirmation control an agent, and which channel fits your client. - [The three agent levels](https://docs.mentoragent.net/concepts/agent-levels.md): Actions, specialists and teams: how the three levels of MentorAgent map to Agent Framework, and when to use each one. - [Roles, confirmation and governance](https://docs.mentoragent.net/concepts/governance.md): How MentorAgent checks roles and asks for confirmation before an action runs, on every channel, and what it leaves to your code. - [Channels: how clients reach the agent](https://docs.mentoragent.net/concepts/channels.md): Which channel fits your client: the Blazor or MAUI widget, SignalR or SSE for JavaScript and mobile apps, and MCP or A2A for other agents and AI tools. ## Configure - [Configure](https://docs.mentoragent.net/configure.md): Set up the model provider, your front end, servers for other agents and tools, endpoint security, and the production settings. - [Model providers](https://docs.mentoragent.net/configure/model-providers.md): Connect OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Ollama and other local models, or your own AIAgent, and choose models that support tool calling. - [Blazor Server app](https://docs.mentoragent.net/configure/blazor-server.md): Configure MentorAgent in a Blazor Web App with Server interactivity: services, the options that matter, the widget and authentication. - [Blazor WebAssembly and Auto](https://docs.mentoragent.net/configure/blazor-webassembly.md): Keep the widget on the server, or run it in a WebAssembly or Auto client with Novior.MentorAgent.Blazor, backed by Novior.MentorAgent.Server. - [.NET MAUI (Blazor Hybrid)](https://docs.mentoragent.net/configure/maui.md): Host MentorAgent in a .NET MAUI Blazor Hybrid app, pass the signed-in user for role checks, and keep the model key on a server. - [Any front end: React, Angular, Vue](https://docs.mentoragent.net/configure/any-front-end.md): Use MentorAgent from React, Angular, Vue, a mobile app or any HTTP client: SignalR or Server-Sent Events, confirmation over HTTP, and how to stop an answer. - [MCP server](https://docs.mentoragent.net/configure/mcp-server.md): Expose your actions to MCP clients such as Claude Desktop or VS Code: authentication, CORS, and the actions that the server does not list. - [A2A server](https://docs.mentoragent.net/configure/a2a-server.md): Let other agents call your agent over the Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol: the agent card, authentication, and the actions that need confirmation. - [Secure the endpoints](https://docs.mentoragent.net/configure/secure-endpoints.md): Protect the SignalR hub, Server-Sent Events, /mcp and /a2a endpoints with authentication and CORS before you expose them. - [Production checklist](https://docs.mentoragent.net/configure/production.md): Settings to review before you go to production: governance defaults, safety check, rate limits, cost and routing, history, observability, and outgoing data. ## Reference -
